Do you have a request?

Some people lack the ability to ask for what they want.

They stammer.
They stumble.

And, often, they can’t just “spit it out.”

There may be many reasons people can’t ask for what they want.

Shame.
Shyness.
Fear.

So perhaps you can help them out.

If you see someone struggling to communicate, perhaps they are rambling, or looking for the right words, try asking them the following question:

“Do you have a request?”

This question will disrupt their thinking.

Why?

Research in neuroscience has found that the human brain can only process one idea at a time. So when you ask somebody a question, you force their minds to consider only that question.

Questions are powerful.

“Do you have a request?” will focus their brain on an instant answer, and determine their next step of action.

Which, oftentimes, is responding with…

“My request is…. [fill in blank]”

Try it!
